POW/MIA Investigative Researcher & Host of Stories of Sacrifice Podcast
John Bear is a passionate POW/MIA forensic genealogist specializing in World War II research. As a relative of a WWII POW/MIA who died in the Philippines and was later identified, John's dedication to the POW/MIA issues is deeply personal. His efforts have indirectly contributed to the past and future identifications of over 350 WW2 service members who were buried as unknowns in the Philippines. Through his genealogy work, Family Reference Sample (FRS) DNA has been collected, enhancing the potential for accurate identifications. John has also extensively investigated the enigmatic case of Baron 52, bringing light to the possible capture of the missing EC-47 crew. Additionally, he hosts the podcast Stories of Sacrifice: American POW/MIAs, where he interviews the families and shares the stories of our Nation’s Missing In Action, honoring their sacrifices and keeping their memories alive. His meticulous research and dedication to honoring the legacy of our Nation’s fallen have made significant contributions to the field of POW/MIA investigative research.
