Crash site expert and former fighter pilot Col. Ralph Wetterhahn noted that the recent "Delta crash in Ontario shows how you can hit flat, burn, lose both wings and come to a halt upside down with everyone surviving.”
Based on his investigation about the Baron 52 crash, including reviewing photos by the Air force, within days after the downing of the this EC-47, he has long argued that the plane did not spiral down vertically, as contended by the Air Force, (completely discredited by both the photos and reports from SAR personnel) but that it was a somewhat controlled crash landing after being hit with artillery fire, landing very much like the Delta plane. This more recent crash further supports possibility of survival of Sgt Joseph Matejov and the 3 other missing crew members, and undermines the insistence by the Air Force, Defense Intelligence Agency and the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency that none of the crew could have survived the crash.
